Chemical Peels & Microneedling
Chemical peels remain a popular choice for skin rejuvenation largely because they are so effective. At MDLI, our dermatologists perform chemical peels on people living in and around Miami, Fort Lauderdale and Kendall, FL, along with nearby communities, to restore an even skin tone and smooth complexion.
What Is A Chemical Peel?
A chemical peel is a procedure in which a solution of varying strengths is applied to the entire face or to specific areas, such as around the mouth, to peel away the skin’s top layers and restore a smooth complexion. Common chemical peels include: Alpha Hydroxy Acid, Beta, Vitality Institute Peel (VIP), Trichloroacetic Acid (TCA), and Jessner’s Solution. At Miami Dermatology and Laser Institute, our expert board-certified dermatologists recommend the range of Skinceuticals® peels for optimal skin benefits.

Why Choose A Chemical Peel?
One of the least invasive treatments for the skin, chemical peels are essential for maintaining and restoring the skin’s health and appearance. They treat a wide variety of skin conditions, such as acne, sun damage, pigmentation and uneven, rough texture and tone.
Our medical team may recommend a series of chemical peels to stimulate collagen production to reduce signs of photoaging, including fine lines and wrinkles. Peels can also be effective in improving the appearance of hyperpigmentation and dullness by exfoliating dead surface cells and restoring the skin’s surface to a smoother and softer state.
How Does a Chemical Peel Work?
Chemical peels are usually classified as light, medium and deep. The type of peel used depends on the condition of the skin and the desired result. Overall, a chemical solution is placed over the facial skin and left to gently remove the outer layers of skin. Once the treatment is done, the solution is washed off the face, and a neutralizer is spread on the skin to soothe it. After that, the treatment is complete.
It is common for chemical peels to be combined with other skin resurfacing procedures, such as light therapies and laser resurfacing, to maximize the rejuvenating effects. They are also an ideal complement to the selection of at-home skin care products available at Miami Dermatology and Laser Institute.
What Should I Expect After A Chemical Peel?
Following your chemical peel, you may have some light flaking or peeling as the dead skin sloughs away. There may also be some redness like a sunburn depending on the level of peel used. It is important to avoid direct sunlight on your face while the new skin fills in. With the stronger chemical peels, this may be a longer process. Once the process is complete, the results are subtle but astonishing.
Am I A Good Candidate for Chemical Peels?
If you have uneven skin tone on your face or want to restore a smooth complexion, you may be a good candidate for a chemical peel. We recommend you schedule a consultation with a board-certified dermatologist to evaluate your skin and determine the best treatment for your skin.
